Andahuaylillas Sistine Chapel
Andahuaylillas is a cozy town of more or less 5,000 inhabitants that receives the traveler in his immense and serene square armed with old pisonayes. Its church, from the outside, never ceases to be beautiful, in spite of its simplicity: raised on a platform to which it accedes by tiers, has, like many Andean temples, an open chapel in the form of balcony and a solid bell tower of solid square plant , In addition to three bare stone crosses that stand in the atrium. Possibly it was built on the site of a pre-Hispanic building, a huaca, perhaps, because inside there are remains of Inca walls.
Temple of the God Wiracocha, Raqchi
Archaeological center of great importance located to 125 km of the route Cusco Puno in the district of San Pedro. The most important structure of the archaeological site of Racchi is the Temple of Viracocha, an enormous rectangular structure of two floors that measures 92 meters long by 25.5 wide. The structure is composed of a central adobe wall between 18 and 20 meters high, with an andesite stone base. It has windows and doors, is flanked on both sides by a row of 11 columns.
Before its destruction by the Spaniards, the temple had what is believed, the largest roof in the Inca Empire, having its peak in the central wall that extends over the columns and about 25 meters (82 feet) beyond each side . The great proportions of the temple, and its prominence on the site explain why the whole complex is also called as the Temple of Viracocha.
